SQUAT

2-2. The Squat position is a transitional position reached when moving to and from the ground.

It promotes flexibility in the spine, hips, knees, and ankles in preparation for controlled movement to the ground.

From the Position of Attention, start the movement to the squat position.

Lower the body by bending the knees and placing the hands on the ground between the knees.

Arms will be between the knees.

Heels may be off the ground so that the body weight is distributed between the balls of the feet and the hands.

Reverse these steps when moving from the ground to return to the Position of Attention.
